Davido puts $1m on the line, challenges Nigerian artistes to hit songs battle

Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has boldly claimed that no Nigerian artiste has more hit songs than him.

The Omo Baba Olowo crooner made the boast during a recent livestream with streamer Davrel, challenging any Nigerian artiste who believes they can match his hit catalogue to a musical contest.

Davido said he was willing to put $1 million cash on the table for the proposed battle.

“I will put $1 million cash on the table. Nobody has more hits than me,” he declared.

The singer is regarded as one of Nigeria’s most successful hitmakers, alongside industry heavyweights such as Wizkid, Burna Boy, Olamide, Tekno and Runtown.

However, no Nigerian artiste had publicly accepted Davido’s challenge as of the time of filing this report.

Davido’s challenge comes years after Burna Boy made a similar proposal during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020.

Former Mavin Records artiste Reekado Banks was the only musician who accepted Burna Boy’s challenge at the time, but Burna Boy rejected him, saying he was not a “worthy challenger.”
