282 more Nigerians evacuated from South Africa arrive Lagos as repatriation nears end

The fourth batch of Nigerians evacuated from South Africa has arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.

A total of 282 Nigerians landed on Friday, July 10, aboard a chartered Air Peace flight, bringing the total number of citizens repatriated since the evacuation exercise began on June 11 to 1,141.

The evacuation followed renewed anti-immigrant protests in parts of South Africa, which prompted more than 1,000 Nigerians to register for voluntary return to Nigeria.

Authorities said the final batch of evacuees is expected to arrive in the country next week, marking the conclusion of the ongoing repatriation exercise.
