Speaking during an appearance on the Morayo Show, the 65-year-old actor said his idea of romance has evolved over the years, joking that many women now appreciate financial gestures more than flowers or chocolates.
According to RMD, the moment he received the ₦100 million cheque, he instructed that it should be handed directly to his wife.
"The first time I had the biggest cheque I've ever had in my life, I had like a ₦100 million cheque. So I said, 'Give it to my wife.' When she got it, she said, 'You want me to keep it for your children?' So I said, 'No, keep it for yourself,'" he recalled.
RMD described himself as an incurable romantic, saying his wife deserved the gift and that expressions of love naturally change with age.
Reflecting on turning 65, the actor also shared that he sees every birthday as a blessing because both of his parents passed away before reaching the age of 60.
"I feel like I'm living in extra time right now. My parents didn't make 60. My life is one of gratitude. I'm happy to be alive," he said.
He added that gratitude, healthy living and maintaining a positive mindset have played a major role in helping him stay youthful.
