In a video shared on his social media pages, Hybrid Soulja said he became alarmed after receiving a call from his younger brother's phone, only to hear a stranger informing him that his sibling had been arrested over allegations of defrauding members of the public.
"There was a strange voice at the other end. He told me that my brother was owing people money. I asked if I could speak with my younger brother, and he said no and that my younger brother is behind the counter. I said, even if my brother is behind the counter, let me speak with him.
"He ended the call and switched off the phone. I knew that some certain people were looking for me," he said.
The influencer said he immediately contacted his elder sister and his brother's wife, both of whom said they knew nothing about the arrest.
According to Hybrid Soulja, his brother later managed to send a message to their elder sister, claiming he had been detained because officers were looking for him.
"He told my eldest sister that it is the people that are looking for me who detained him and that she should tell me."
Hybrid Soulja said he contacted his lawyer in Lagos, who was already handling a petition filed against him, and also reached out to the female police officer overseeing the matter.
According to him, the officer denied sending anyone to Abuja to arrest his brother and reportedly described such an action as illegal.
He also claimed his Abuja-based lawyer contacted the Divisional Police Officer, who allegedly said there was no such case at the station.
The influencer further alleged that his brother was later transferred to another police station in Area 10, where he was told that officers had shown him Hybrid Soulja's photograph and demanded he lead them to his residence.
"He said I was at work this morning and a group of men walked in and escorted me outside. They showed me your picture and asked if I knew you. I said you are my elder brother. They then asked me to show them where you stay."
Hybrid Soulja also alleged that the officers told his brother they had tracked his phone calls and discovered the siblings were in regular contact before tracing and arresting him at his workplace.
Questioning the legality of the operation, the influencer asked why officers would travel from Lagos to Abuja to arrest his brother over a petition filed against him.
His younger brother has since been released, while the Nigeria Police Force has not publicly responded to the allegations.
