The incident was reported to the Zambia Police Service through Chelstone Police Station at about 9:30am on Thursday, August 20, 2026.
Police deputy spokesperson, Chipo Kaitisha, said Mutambo had spent the evening of August 19 with two female friends at a hotel where she worked as an ambassador.
The three women reportedly left the hotel at about 10:30pm and continued their outing at another drinking spot in Lusaka.
According to police, Mutambo’s boyfriend arrived between 2:30am and 3:00am and picked up the three women. He later dropped the two friends in the Minestone/Casanova area before taking Mutambo to her residence in Kalundu.
After arriving at the residence, Mutambo reportedly began vomiting before becoming unconscious.
Her boyfriend then contacted a friend who assisted in taking her to Victoria Hospital, where she was pronounced dead between 3:30am and 4:30am.
“The Zambia Police Service, through Chelstone Police Station, received a report of a sudden death involving a 25-year-old female identified as Lisa Mutambo,” police said.
Officers subsequently processed the primary and secondary scenes, while Mutambo’s body was initially deposited at FSG Mortuary before being transferred to the University Teaching Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination.
Police said no physical injuries were found on her body, amid social media claims that she had allegedly been beaten to death by her boyfriend.
Authorities are expected to establish the cause of death following the postmortem examination.
