Natasha Osawaru, the wife of Nigerian music star 2Baba, has emerged as the Minority Leader of the Edo State House of Assembly.
Osawaru, who represents Egor Constituency, was announced as the minority leader during plenary on Monday following a major reshuffle of the Assembly’s principal leadership.
Her elevation comes under the platform of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), after she defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in May 2026.
Reacting to her new position, Osawaru described the appointment as a responsibility to the people rather than merely a political title.
“This new responsibility is not a title; it is a trust. Our democracy thrives on rigorous debate, accountability, and the courage to advocate for the ordinary citizen without compromise,” she said in a statement shared on her Facebook page.
The lawmaker’s emergence comes amid public attention surrounding her reported marital crisis with her husband, singer 2Baba.
Despite the personal challenges surrounding her, Osawaru has continued with her legislative duties and is expected to play a key role in the Assembly’s opposition leadership.
