Nwosu was allegedly att@cked on SM Okeke Street on Sunday while driving his Hilux truck, which was fitted with loudspeakers used for public announcements and entertainment.
According to sources, the assailants allegedly monitored Nwosu and trailed him from his residence in a tinted Toyota Corolla before attacking him.
He reportedly died inside his vehicle after being shot, while music continued playing from the sound system. His truck was said to have veered into a ditch, suggesting that the attack caught him off guard.
Nwosu was well known in Awka for driving around the city and entertaining residents with music and public announcements through the loudspeakers installed in his vehicle.
His reported killing occurred amid a series of attacks in Awka on Sunday, which allegedly left three people dead and several others injured.
Earlier, two men were reportedly shot dead in the Amaenyi area, with the incident said to have triggered a stampede that left several people injured.
While some residents maintained that Nwosu had no known history of cult membership, others alleged that his son was a member of the Vikings Confraternity. However, the claims have not been independently verified.
Awka has previously witnessed clashes linked to cult activities, with several lives reportedly lost in such incidents.
As of the time of filing this report, the police had yet to officially comment on the reported attacks or Nwosu’s de@th.
