“Davido won’t perform in Edo under Okpebholo” — Governor’s aide declares

“Davido won’t perform in Edo under Okpebholo” — Governor’s aide declares

Afrobeats star Davido has been told not to expect to perform in Edo State for the remainder of Governor Monday Okpebholo’s tenure.

The declaration was made by the governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Digital Media, Apostle Kassy Chukwu, amid the ongoing dispute between Davido and the Edo State governor.

Chukwu made the remarks in a video shared on YouTube by Peniel TV International Benin City, Nigeria, on Thursday.

The controversy followed Davido’s refusal to apologise over comments he made about Okpebholo after the governor criticised Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is also the singer’s uncle.

The disagreement began during the build-up to the August 15 governorship election, when comments made by Okpebholo about Adeleke drew a reaction from Davido.

Following the singer’s refusal to apologise, Chukwu declared that Davido would not be allowed to perform in Edo State for as long as Okpebholo remains governor.

The development has further intensified the ongoing war of words between the singer and the Edo State governor.
