FIFA president Gianni Infantino has reportedly called an emergency meeting with senior officials in Morocco as he battles growing opposition to his proposed FIFA Forward Enterprise plans.
According to TalkSPORT, Infantino has intensified efforts to secure the backing of FIFA Member Associations, with Asian football federations emerging as a crucial voting bloc ahead of a key decision.
The situation has become more tense following allegations by Jordan Football Association president, Prince Ali Al Hussein, who claimed that some of the tactics being used to win support "amount to blackmail."
Adding to Infantino's challenges, FIFA General Secretary Mattias Grafström and FIFA's Chief of Global Football Development, Arsene Wenger, have both publicly expressed opposition to the proposed plans.
Reports suggest the FIFA president is now working to determine whether he still commands the support of at least 106 member associations before deciding his next move.
Several football federations are said to have requested more time before taking a position, while the Swiss Football Association has insisted on holding a "personal exchange" with Infantino before declaring where it stands.
The emergency meeting in Morocco is expected to play a key role in shaping the future of Infantino's proposal and could determine whether he retains enough support to push the reforms through amid mounting resistance within world football.
