Omisore made the claim during a recent interview on the African A-List Podcast, where he discussed his alleged encounter and the way witchcraft is portrayed in Nollywood films.
According to the actor, he was invited to the meeting after one of the alleged members accused him of offending her and damaging something that belonged to her.
“Witches exist. I have gone to a meeting with witches before and came back to the house. Yes, they invited me. I went to settle a dispute,” he said.
Omisore said the woman allegedly reported him to the group and that he was summoned to explain his side of the matter.
“One of them reported me. She said I offended her, and I was summoned. I went to explain my own side of the issue,” he said.
He added that he did not understand the allegation and denied knowing the woman or damaging anything belonging to her.
“And I told their leader that I have never met her before, nor did I ruin anything that belonged to her,” he said.
The actor further claimed that he saw several people at the gathering who appeared to have been restrained, while some were carrying calabashes on their heads.
“I saw many people that were tied there. Some were carrying calabashes on their heads,” he claimed.
Omisore also discussed the portrayal of witches in Nigerian movies, saying his alleged experience did not match the way witch characters are commonly depicted on screen.
He said that if he were to make a film featuring a witch character, he would not portray them with the elaborate face paint often seen in Nollywood productions.
“So basically, if I want to shoot a movie with a witch character, I have never seen a witch that paints their face like the one in a Nigerian movie. The ones that I saw wore Iro and a buba dress,” he said.
His comments have since generated reactions, particularly his claim that he personally attended a meeting involving witches.
