Businesswoman Diadem has warned against keeping friends who cannot genuinely celebrate her success, saying she would rather protect her peace than maintain relationships filled with jealousy and unnecessary stress.
Speaking on the Afropolitan Podcast, Diadem reflected on her struggles with maintaining friendships and romantic relationships, revealing that a painful friendship breakup made her more careful about the people she allows into her life.
“I’ve always said this thing, that two things I feel like I can’t keep is friends and man,” she said.
According to her, anyone seeking friendship with her must be able to handle her success and the “shine” around her without becoming jealous.
“If you want to be my friend, if you cannot take this shine and this grace that is upon me, there’s no need. Don’t even bother to come close, because if you come close and have spirit of jealousy, it will show,” she stated.
Diadem explained that she already has enough responsibilities as a single parent and a leader and does not want friendships that add more pressure to her life.
She said she does not hesitate to walk away once she notices even the slightest sign of stress, choosing to protect her peace instead of forcing a relationship to work.
However, she noted that when she genuinely loves and values someone, she would explain her reasons before ending the friendship.
“I love you so much with all of my heart, but this is not heading anywhere. This is not helping me in any way. And I would love to just take my L right now,” she said.
She added that if she does not consider someone a genuine friend, she simply lets the relationship go and moves on.
