Nigerian man faces driving ban after driving against traffic to escape Manchester gridlock

A Nigerian man is facing a possible driving ban after he was caught driving against the flow of traffic on a motorway slip road while attempting to escape a traffic jam in Manchester, United Kingdom.

The man, identified as Innocent Ayodele, was stopped by police after driving the wrong way along an entry slip road leading to the M61 motorway.

Ayodele reportedly told officers that he was trying to get home to his pregnant wife after finishing work and decided to drive against traffic to avoid being stuck in the gridlock.

However, the police officer who confronted him described the manoeuvre as dangerous, warning that he could have collided with another vehicle travelling in the opposite direction.

The case was brought before Preston Magistrates’ Court, where Ayodele apologised for his actions.

With nine penalty points already on his driving licence, he could now be disqualified from driving when he returns to court for sentencing.
