The directive comes as the scheme intensifies efforts to strengthen its verification process ahead of the mobilisation of the 2026 Batch 'B' prospective corps members.
In a notice shared on its official X account on Monday, the NYSC urged prospective corps members (PCMs) to obtain their NERD clearance early to avoid delays in their mobilisation.
"This is to inform PCMs (Prospective Corps Members) that without NERD clearance, no NYSC. Get your NERD clearance early. Avoid delays in your mobilisation."
The scheme further stressed that the requirement is now compulsory for all prospective corps members.
"NERD clearance is compulsory for all PCMs. No NERD clearance, No NYSC!!!"
Although the NYSC did not provide further details on the clearance process, the directive signals a stricter verification system ahead of the next orientation exercise.
The announcement follows the mobilisation of another batch of prospective corps members for the 2026 Batch 'B' service year, with tertiary institutions and eligible graduates expected to complete all required documentation before the orientation programme.
The NYSC also recently reminded prospective corps members to prioritise their safety while travelling to orientation camps, advising them to avoid night journeys, break long trips when necessary, and lodge in safe locations or designated military and security formations instead of travelling after dark.
According to the scheme, the new verification measures and travel advisories are part of ongoing efforts to improve the integrity of the mobilisation process and enhance the safety of corps members across the country.
