The directive banning Davido from performing in Edo State has been rejected by the singer’s logistics manager, Israel DMW, who insisted that nobody has the authority to stop the singer from performing in the state.
Israel, who is from Edo State, made the statement while reacting to the announcement by Apostle Kassy Chukwu, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Monday Okpebholo on Digital Media.
Chukwu had announced that Davido would not be allowed to perform in Edo for the remainder of Okpebholo’s tenure following the singer’s online altercation with the governor during the build-up to the Osun State governorship election.
Reacting to the development, Israel dismissed the directive, arguing that Davido has strong ties to Edo through his maternal family.
He also criticised Chukwu, claiming that the governor’s aide is originally from Ebonyi State and accused him of causing trouble in Benin City.
Sharing a photo of Chukwu on Instagram, Israel wrote: “HE’S FROM EBONYI STATE, AND NOT FROM EDO. 100% A REAL SETTLER, WHO HAS BECOME A COMPLETE NUISANCE IN BENIN CITY. AN APC FAKE PASTOR, A CUM PASTOR. A BEER PALOUR PASTOR.
“KINDLY DISREGARD WHAT HE’S SAYING. HE’S NOT SPEAKING FOR WE EDOLITES. NO MAN ON THIS PLANET EARTH CAN BAN OGA FROM EDO, HIS MATERNAL HOME. IDIOT OF A PASTOR.”
Israel further maintained that Davido’s maternal connection to Edo makes the state his home, insisting that the singer cannot be banned from performing there.
