The exemption applies to applicants for the Red-White-Red Card, Blue Card, Settlement Permit for Researchers and Researcher Mobility, Settlement Permit for extended family members of EEA or Swiss nationals, Student permits, ICT and Mobile ICT permits, Volunteer permits, and Cross-Border Worker permits.
The Red-White-Red Card is one of Austria’s main immigration routes for qualified workers from outside the European Union, while the Blue Card is aimed at highly qualified professionals.
The exemption also covers students, volunteers, researchers, certain family members of EEA and Swiss nationals, and cross-border workers.
However, the waiver does not mean applicants are completely exempt from financial requirements. Those required to prove sufficient means of subsistence must still include their monthly accommodation costs when calculating their available financial resources.
The distinction is important for prospective applicants, as knowing which documents are not required can help reduce paperwork and make the residence permit application process easier.
