The beneficiaries, who were certified medically fit to leave the facility, received training in various skills aimed at helping them become productive and independent after their rehabilitation.
Speaking at their graduation ceremony, Mrs Soludo expressed delight at seeing the beneficiaries confidently demonstrate the skills they had acquired.
She said rehabilitation should go beyond recovery by helping people rediscover their abilities, rebuild their confidence and find a productive place in society.
“Every human being deserves a second chance. Sometimes, all it takes is the right support, opportunity and someone who believes that a better future is possible,” she said.
The governor’s wife also praised the caregivers at the facility for their role in the beneficiaries’ rehabilitation, while encouraging the graduates to continue building their skills and moving forward.
One of the Reverend Sisters in charge of the home, Rev. Sr. Philomena Akuchukwu, appreciated Mrs Soludo for her continued support for the facility.
Akuchukwu said the beneficiaries had been well cared for and encouraged them to maintain positive lifestyles and avoid activities that could trigger a relapse of mental health challenges.
She also urged them to make proper use of the empowerment items provided to them to establish meaningful livelihoods.
The beneficiaries received various empowerment items and cash assistance to support their reintegration into society.
