The 69-year-old businessman stated this during an interview with ARISE News while responding to a question about whether he still hoped to have a son.
“That one, I think is not my priority. Let me say it bluntly. It’s not really my priority because today as we speak, God controls everything,” Dangote said.
He explained that although people may pray for a son, having a male child does not automatically guarantee the preservation of a family’s name or legacy.
“And for me really you know, sometimes you can pray for God to give you a son, but that son might be the one that will take the name of the family down. So sometimes, when God doesn’t give you something don’t push,” he added.
Dangote, who has three daughters, also said he does not believe a son would necessarily have achieved more than his daughters.
“I don’t think if a son would have done better than these three daughters that I have,” he said.
