Nollywood actress Jemima Osunde has questioned how Nigerians can completely avoid consuming unsafe food amid increasing reports of food adulteration and contamination across the country.
The actress raised the concern in a social media post, expressing frustration over the difficulty of knowing whether commonly consumed food products are safe before they reach consumers.
“How is someone supposed to 100% avoid consuming these things?” she asked.
Jemima had previously revealed that she suffered serious health complications after allegedly consuming contaminated food while on a movie set in Ibadan.
She disclosed that she contracted Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori), a stomach-infecting bacterium, and later developed Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), which she said affected her health for years.
Her latest comments have sparked renewed concerns about food safety in Nigeria, with calls for stronger monitoring of food production, handling and distribution to protect consumers from contaminated and adulterated products.
