The actress said her journey was far from easy, revealing that she had to tighten her belt and endure difficult periods with her husband, who battled diabetes and hypertension for several years.
Ozokwo said she never pressured her husband by comparing him with other men whose wives were receiving expensive gifts such as cars and houses.
According to her, she understood the kind of man she married and chose to work with him through their challenges rather than make unrealistic demands.
“I struggled to get to where I am today. It wasn't flowery, it wasn't an easy thing. My life is full of spirituality. Deep prayer, when others are sleeping, I'm praying,” she said.
The actress explained that her husband’s prolonged illness made their journey even more difficult, noting that he battled diabetes and hypertension simultaneously.
She added that her children also experienced the difficult period as they grew up, eventually helping her to manage the home as she became more active professionally.
“At the time, my children also grew up and they were helping me. So when I started moving, when I moved, they took care of the house. So they too went through it,” she said.
Ozokwo said she did not pamper her children while raising them, adding that she believes the challenges they experienced contributed to their present success.
“I didn't pamper them at all,” she added.
