“Let people decide what they can handle” — Mo Bimpe reacts to TTC mothers backlash

Nollywood actress Mo Bimpe has reacted to the backlash that followed her recent post about women who are trying to conceive, urging people to stop deciding for others what they can or cannot handle.

In a statement shared on her Instagram page, the actress said everyone should be allowed to tell their own story and explained that she shared her experience because she did not want anyone else interpreting it on her behalf.

“Everyone is entitled to tell their story,” Bimpe said, adding that she had personally lived through the experience she spoke about.

She said the situation had also made her realise that kindness should not be assumed on behalf of another person, revealing that she had received numerous messages from women sharing what they were going through.

“It hurts to hear what women are going through; my DMs are full,” she said.

Bimpe urged people to be more intentional about including others by inviting, calling and checking on them, while allowing them to decide whether they are emotionally ready to participate.

“Please, let’s do better. Invite people. Call them. Include them. Then allow them to decide what they can and can handle,” she added.

The actress noted that people may never fully know what another person is carrying privately, but everyone can choose to show compassion, inclusion and thoughtfulness.

She concluded by urging people to stop deciding what others can handle and instead give them the dignity of making their own choices, especially when they are going through difficult seasons.
