Mother allegedly k!lls two-year-old son in Illinois after becoming obsessed with Lindsay Clancy trial

A 38-year-old Illinois mother, Corie A. Walsh, has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder following the death of her two-year-old son, Barrett Walsh, after she had reportedly become deeply interested in the criminal case involving Massachusetts mother Lindsay Clancy.

According to court documents, police found Walsh allegedly attempting to harm herself after officers responded to a report concerning an injured two-year-old child at her home in Frankfort, Illinois.

When officers arrived, a neighbour was reportedly performing CPR on Barrett after finding him unresponsive in the basement. The neighbour told police that the toddler had been found hanging from a rafter with a ligature around his neck and his feet off the ground.

The neighbour reportedly removed the ligature and immediately began administering CPR. Barrett was later taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy determined that the two-year-old died from “asphyxia due to ligature compression of the neck.”

Court documents reportedly state that Walsh told police she “did this to her baby because he was the ‘devil’ and the ‘anti-Christ.’”

The documents also indicate that Walsh had recently become “very invested in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial” and had been actively discussing the case with friends through a group text message before the alleged killing.

The development comes as proceedings against Clancy, who was accused of killing her three young children in Massachusetts in 2023, ended in a mistrial on Friday.

Walsh remains accused of the killing, and the allegations against her have not been proven in court.
