The critic, identified as King Chidi, made the remarks in response to a post by the actress on X, where she shared a video of herself returning to work.
He wrote, “An industry whore with her sex tape all over the internet who has passed her prime, yet has refused to retire and give room to upcoming hoes.”
In a lengthy response, Lawal rejected the allegations and questioned why her appearance or relationship history should be used to make assumptions about her character.
“Your reasons for typing this nonsense is because I look amazing? Because I left a man whose feeble brain could not deal with losing me and he tried to destroy me in the process?” she wrote.
The actress also pushed back against the suggestion that her career was built through sexual relationships, explaining that she started out in television and secured subsequent jobs largely through auditions.
“Industry?? Uncle, I came from TV oooh, my first job was with a married couple, my jobs after that were obtained through mass auditioning and I mainly worked with female producers,” she said.
Lawal added that she had no connection with the claims of sleeping around, writing, “Me and sleeping around has absolutely nothing in common, sir.”
She also questioned the assumption that being a single and attractive woman automatically meant she was sexually involved with multiple men.
“So a sexy woman who is not married is automatically sleeping around? Lol, ask about me,” she wrote.
The actress concluded her response by dismissing the critic’s comments as “rubbish talk” and suggesting that she had not had as many partners as the critic’s current partner, regardless of the person’s age.
