In a new video, the mother of four said fear and her financial dependence on her husband influenced her decision to publicly stand by him during the controversy.
“I want to use this opportunity to apologise to all the women who feel offended because I stood by my husband, Odogwu Asaba. I shouldn’t have done that. I shouldn’t have shown my face and that of my children,” she said.
She explained that she had been a full-time housewife throughout their eight-year marriage and depended on her husband financially for herself, their four children and her parents.
According to her, she became afraid that her husband might reject her if she failed to support him publicly.
“I was scared. I was scared if he comes out, he’s going to reject me,” she said.
Despite apologising for her earlier actions, the woman maintained that she still believes her husband is innocent of the rape allegation.
She claimed that Odogwu Asaba admitted to having an encounter with 20-year-old Favour Agbro but denied forcing himself on her.
The mother of four added that she had never witnessed such behaviour from her husband throughout their years together.
“I believe him 100%. Even if I can’t defend it. Even if I can’t prove it. I believe him,” she stated.
She also responded to calls from members of the public urging her to leave the marriage, saying she would continue to fight for her family.
“I am going to fight for the man that made me a mother,” she said, stressing that Odogwu Asaba remains the father of her children.
Odogwu Asaba was arrested after the family of Agbro reportedly petitioned the Delta State Police Command over the allegations.
The police have confirmed that the matter is under investigation and will be handled through the appropriate legal process.
