The queen consort made this known during an interview with BBC News Pidgin, where she spoke about her marriage, life in the palace, personal style and her role as queen.
Asked what she would do if the monarch changed his mind about taking another wife, Olori Ivie said she was certain that would not happen.
“Firstly, His Majesty no go fit change him mind about polygamy. Make we just settle that one for there. Me alone, one me, I be like three women, so I dey alright for am,” she said.
Her comments come months after the Olu of Warri also spoke about his decision to remain in a monogamous marriage despite the traditional practice of polygamy among some monarchs.
In a January 2026 interview with BBC Pidgin, the monarch said, “God did not give me that grace,” explaining that the demands of his royal responsibilities already took up much of his time and that he preferred to maintain peace within his home.
Speaking about her marriage, Olori Ivie said she enjoys watching the public celebrate her husband’s achievements and described his success as something that also makes her happy.
She, however, acknowledged that his demanding schedule can sometimes make it difficult for them to spend enough time together because of the responsibilities attached to his position.
The lawyer also spoke about her signature turban, explaining that she wears it as a way of showing respect for her position as queen.
“My dressing is how I like it. People ask me why I dey cover my hair. My turban na my crown, na so I dey see am,” she said.
She added that she does not consider her style a restriction, noting that she prefers to cover her hair whenever she is in “Queen mode.”
In a lighter moment, Olori Ivie revealed that she also helps her husband with his fashion choices.
“You want make I tell you secret? I be my husband stylist,” she said.
Olori Ivie and the Olu of Warri got married in 2014 and have three children together. The monarch ascended the throne as the 21st Olu of Warri in August 2021.
