The debate began after Phenom argued that Burna Boy is currently bigger than Drake worldwide, pointing to the Nigerian singer’s ability to headline stadium shows across different countries.
“Worldwide, right now, Burna Boy is bigger than Drake,” Phenom said.
However, while discussing Burna Boy and Wizkid, Phenom clarified that he did not consider Burna’s appearance at the FIFA World Cup enough to establish him as bigger than Wizkid.
“You can’t say Burna Boy is bigger than Wizkid just because he performed at the World Cup. Would you say Burna is bigger than Drake cos of World Cup performance? Wizkid is the greatest please,” he stated.
DayGenius disagreed with Phenom’s position and maintained that Drake remains bigger globally.
“Nobody is bigger than Drake,” he insisted.
Phenom later clarified his position, distinguishing between Drake’s standing in hip-hop and Burna Boy’s influence as an African artiste.
“Drake is the biggest Hip Hop artist. Burna is the biggest African artist,” he said.
The pair also disagreed over Wizkid, with DayGenius insisting that the singer is number one, while Phenom pointed to Burna Boy’s repeated stadium performances.
“Burna does stadium back to back,” Phenom added.
The debate also briefly touched on international stars Shakira and Beyoncé before Phenom jokingly appealed to Burna Boy for a $10,000 reward if he came across the discussion.
“Burna, if you see this, beg, you know what I mean, run me 10k dollars man,” he said.
