His media aide, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday ahead of the president’s return from France.
According to Onanuga, Tinubu is expected to arrive in Lagos on Tuesday evening and will attend the premiere of a movie honouring the late MKO Abiola, the presumed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election.
The movie premiere is scheduled to take place at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre in Iganmu, Lagos.
The presidential aide also disclosed that Tinubu would hold strategic meetings with political leaders and associates during his stay in Lagos.
The meetings, according to Onanuga, will focus on preparations for the 2027 elections and are expected to continue over several days.
Tinubu is therefore expected to deliver his Independence Day address to Nigerians from Lagos as the country marks its 66th anniversary of independence.
The development means the president will not be physically present in Abuja for the October 1 celebration.
