Todd Boehly No Longer Chelsea Chairman as Clearlake Takes Full Control

Todd Boehly is no longer chairman of Chelsea Football Club after he and fellow co-owner Mark Walter agreed to sell their minority stakes to Clearlake Capital, bringing an end to the ownership structure that had placed Boehly at the public face of the club since 2022.

Chelsea confirmed the development on Wednesday, announcing that Clearlake had acquired the remaining shares held by Boehly and Walter. 

The deal, reportedly worth about £950 million, gives Clearlake full control of the Premier League club. 

Boehly became Chelsea chairman in June 2022 after a consortium involving himself, Clearlake Capital, Mark Walter and Swiss billionaire Hansjörg Wyss completed the takeover of the club from Roman Abramovich.
