Cristiano Ronaldo returns to Madrid after leaving Portugal camp

Cristiano Ronaldo has returned to Madrid after leaving the Portugal national team camp ahead of the country’s upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures.

Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano disclosed the development in a post on X, stating that Ronaldo landed in Madrid at about 2 a.m. local time after officially withdrawing from the Portugal squad.

The Al-Nassr forward reportedly decided to leave the national team camp following discussions with Pedro Proença, president of the Portuguese Football Federation.

Ronaldo will consequently miss Portugal’s upcoming fixtures against Denmark and Norway in the UEFA Nations League.

The 41-year-old forward featured in Portugal’s recent match against Wales, where one of his goals was ruled out.

He was, however, an unused substitute during Portugal’s subsequent victory over Norway.

Ronaldo’s decision to leave the camp means he will not be involved in the team’s next two Nations League matches as Portugal continue their campaign.
