Mbappe breaks Messi’s record as youngest player to reach 100 Champions League games

Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe has become the youngest player to make 100 appearances in the UEFA Champions League, breaking the record previously held by Argentine superstar Lionel Messi.

The French international reached the milestone at the age of 27 years and 298 days on Wednesday night, when Real Madrid faced Roma at the Stadio Olimpico in Italy.

Mbappe marked his 100th Champions League appearance with a goal that brought Real Madrid level at 1-1, as the Spanish giants went on to secure a 4-3 victory over the Italian side.

Messi previously held the record after making his 100th appearance in the competition against Roma on September 16, 2015, at the age of 28 years and 84 days.

Mbappe also became the fifth French player to reach 100 Champions League appearances.

The forward made his Champions League debut for Monaco in September 2016, aged 17, before later featuring for Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid in the competition.
