Nigerian man reveals how begging in Italy helped him build house, support four children

A Nigerian man who has been begging for a living in Italy for the past nine years has revealed how he has used his earnings to build a house in Nigeria and support his family.

The man made the disclosure during an interview while reflecting on what he had achieved since moving to Italy.

According to him, one of his major achievements has been building his own house in Nigeria and ensuring that his four children are well taken care of.

“I have built my own house. I take care of my children,” he said.

The man, who has two boys and two girls, revealed that his first son is currently studying at a university.

“My first son is in university,” he said.

He also said he provides for his children and wife in Nigeria, stressing that he has been able to meet his family’s needs despite his means of livelihood in Italy.

The Nigerian man said he considers Italy a better place to live than Nigeria, estimating that the European country is about 90 per cent better.

“Italy is better than Nigeria,” he said, while explaining that his priority is being able to feed and support his children.

When asked what he does for a living in Italy, he described his activity as begging, insisting that there was nothing wrong with doing it as long as he knew what he was doing.

He was also asked whether he would return to Nigeria if the government offered him ₦50 million to relocate.

The man rejected the hypothetical offer, saying he did not believe any Nigerian president would give him such an amount to return home.

He also expressed dissatisfaction with the Nigerian government, saying he believed there had effectively been no president in the country for many years.

Despite his circumstances in Italy, the man maintained that he was focused on providing for his family.

He said he has only one wife and reiterated that both his wife and children are being taken care of.

The interview highlighted the contrast between his difficult means of livelihood in Italy and the investments he said he had made in Nigeria, including his house and his children’s education.
