The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 51-year-old woman, Alaba Mulika, and two others for allegedly obstructing and assaulting police officers carrying out their lawful duties.
The other suspects were identified as Alawode Iyanu, 21, and Temitope Saliu, 29.
The incident reportedly occurred on September 29 in Ago-Iwoye when a police team led by ASP Akeredolu Emmanuel intercepted an unregistered Toyota Camry at Fibigbade Street.
According to the police, while the vehicle was being taken to the station, a Toyota Highlander with registration number JJJ 215 JV allegedly blocked its movement at Abobi Street.
A physical confrontation reportedly followed, during which INSPR Abolarinwa Wasiu and CPL Olubamiro Adeniyi were allegedly assaulted.
Following a directive from the Commissioner of Police, detectives investigated the incident, visited the scene and subsequently arrested the three suspects.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Babaseyi Oluseyi, said the suspects would be arraigned before the Ago-Iwoye Magistrate Court on five counts bordering on conspiracy, obstruction of police officers, alleged serious assault on police officers and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.
