‘Substances don’t make the pain go away’ — Tonto Dikeh warns against dr¥g abuse

Nollywood actress and activist Tonto Dikeh has warned Nigerians against dr¥g abuse, saying substances do not make emotional pain disappear but can instead worsen a person’s struggles.

Dikeh shared the warning while speaking about her personal experience with substance use and addiction, urging those battling similar challenges to seek help and support.

“I’ve been down this dark road, and I can tell you firsthand: substances don’t make the pain go away. The hurt stays, and addiction slowly steals your life, one day at a time,” she said.

The actress said the chaos surrounding people battling addiction may often mask deeper emotional pain, stressing that their struggles should not be allowed to define who they are.

According to her, people dealing with substance abuse should recognise that recovery is possible and that support is available for those willing to seek help.

“The chaos around you doesn’t define who you are; it’s just masking a heart in pain,” she added.

Dikeh encouraged Nigerians struggling with addiction to take steps towards breaking free, stressing that seeking help should be seen as part of the recovery process.

“Breaking free and finding help is possible, and support is available for anyone ready to take that step,” she said.
