According to The Dallas Morning News, the incident happened on October 7, 2025, when Simpson confronted Hampton at a Five Below store for allegedly failing to thank her for holding the door open.
After the disagreement, Hampton allegedly followed Simpson and her daughter to a nearby PetSmart store in the same shopping plaza.
An arrest warrant affidavit stated that Simpson told an employee Hampton was following her. Hampton reportedly entered the store and resumed arguing with Simpson, leaving and returning minutes later to continue the confrontation.
An employee eventually ordered both women to leave the store.
However, as Simpson and her daughter got into their vehicle to leave, Hampton allegedly threw a bottle at their car, triggering another confrontation.
The argument escalated into a physical fight outside the store as Simpson’s daughter attempted to separate them. Hampton reportedly pulled out a g+n and sh%t Simpson three times.
Hampton fled the scene, while Simpson was rushed to a hospital, where she later d+ed.
The suspect was arrested later that day during a traffic stop.
Hampton pleaded guilty to m¥rder on September 23 and was sentenced to 30 years in prison. Judge Tammy Kemp approved the plea deal and granted her 303 days of credit for time served since her arrest.
