Nollywood actress Rachael Okonkwo has officially announced her appointment as Senior Special Assistant on Film and Creative Industry Development to Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah.
The actress confirmed the appointment in a statement shared on her Instagram page, revealing that it was granted in September but only recently made public.
Expressing gratitude to the governor, Okonkwo said she received the appointment with humility and a strong sense of responsibility.
“With a heart full of gratitude to God, I am delighted to officially announce my appointment as the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Enugu State on Films and Creative Industries, by His Excellency, Dr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, the Executive Governor of Enugu State.
“This appointment, which was graciously given in September, is one I receive with deep gratitude, humility and a profound sense of responsibility,” she wrote.
Reflecting on her years in the entertainment industry, the actress said her experience had given her an understanding of the creative sector's potential to drive economic growth, create jobs, preserve culture and promote Nigeria globally.
She added that she viewed the appointment as an opportunity to support emerging talents, filmmakers and other creatives while helping position Enugu State as a destination for film, arts, culture and entertainment.
Thanking Governor Mbah for the confidence reposed in her, Okonkwo described the appointment as more than a title, saying it was a call to make meaningful contributions to the state's creative industry.
The announcement has since attracted congratulatory messages from colleagues and fans, including actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday.
