Sarkodie reveals why he prefers rapping in Twi over English

Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has opened up about why he prefers rapping in his native Twi language rather than English, revealing that he feels less confident whenever he performs in the latter.

Speaking in a recent episode of The Fuse, the award-winning rapper explained that although he initially started his music career rapping in English, he eventually switched to Twi because it made him feel more confident and equal to other rappers.

According to him, expressing himself in his mother tongue allows him to communicate his emotions more effectively and connect better with his music.

He said, “Rapping in Twi is my superpower. I express myself way better in my mother's tongue. The emotions I want to put out come out best when I rap in my native language.

“I started rapping in English but felt like I was beneath someone when I rap in English. But when I rap in Twi, I feel equal to any other rapper in the world.”
