VeryDarkMan alleges Davido’s crew plotted his arrest over Mohbad’s death, reveals reason for fallout with singer

Social media activist VeryDarkMan has opened up about his fallout with Afrobeats star Davido, alleging that members of the singer’s crew were involved in a WhatsApp group where his arrest was planned over his involvement in the Justice for Mohbad campaign.

Recounting how their relationship started, the activist disclosed that he was excited when Davido followed him on social media, adding that they eventually became friendly and exchanged messages.

According to him, he regularly promoted the singer's music whenever he released new songs but claimed that Davido mostly contacted him to request favours.

However, VeryDarkMan alleged that he discovered in 2025 that a WhatsApp group involving some celebrities and members of Davido's DMW crew had discussed plans to get him arrested in 2024 because of the questions he was raising about the circumstances surrounding singer Mohbad's d+ath.

He claimed the group allegedly included Iyabo Ojo, Tonto Dikeh, Samklef, K-Solo and some members of Davido's crew.

Expressing his shock over the discovery, the activist questioned how people he considered friends could allegedly have been involved in plans that resulted in him spending months at the Kuje Correctional Centre.

He said, “I was surprised. Me and Davido, we dey cool, and me and the same crew guys were always laughing. How come these guys were the ones who planned my arrest when I was spending months in Kuje?”

VeryDarkMan further disclosed that he repeatedly attempted to reach Davido by phone to seek clarification about the alleged WhatsApp group and the singer's knowledge of the Justice for Mohbad campaign.

He claimed that the singer ignored his calls, while blogger Cutie Juls subsequently published a post alleging that he was trying to reach Davido without getting a response.

According to the activist, some people in the comment section accused him of attempting to record Davido's voice during the conversation to blackmail the singer.

Describing the experience as a betrayal, VeryDarkMan said he only wanted an explanation from Davido about the alleged involvement of his crew members.

He added that he eventually sent the singer a message expressing his disappointment and making it clear that their relationship would no longer be the same.

He said, “I was betrayed. I was like, why? I just wanted to confirm something. I wanted to ask why your boys were in such a WhatsApp group. When he did that, it was very, very disappointing.”

He further quoted his message to Davido as saying, “For you to plan my downfall like this, if I see you here, I pass like this. You see me, I pass. And you dey follow me laugh. You dey do bro, bro.”
