The Federal Government has announced that another 271 Nigerians will return home from South Africa as part of its ongoing voluntary evacuation programme aimed at safeguarding the lives and welfare of its citizens.
According to the ministry, the third evacuation flight, operated by Air Peace, is scheduled to depart Johannesburg at midnight on Thursday with 271 Nigerians on board.
The aircraft is expected to arrive at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos at about 5:30 a.m. on Friday, July 3, 2026.
The ministry explained that the exercise is part of the Federal Government's continued efforts to facilitate the voluntary return of Nigerians from South Africa amid growing concerns over the safety and welfare of citizens in the country.
The latest evacuation follows two earlier flights that successfully returned hundreds of Nigerians to the country under the government's voluntary repatriation initiative.
The Federal Government reaffirmed its commitment to protecting Nigerians abroad and assured citizens that it would continue working with relevant stakeholders to provide necessary assistance to those who wish to return home safely.
