Laughter after 56-year-old US woman reveals she sends money to Nigerian man she’s never met, claiming he's her husband

A 56-year-old woman living in the United States has gone viral after revealing on a podcast that she is in love with and legally married to a 36-year-old Nigerian man, despite the fact that they have never met in person.

During the interview, the woman disclosed that she sends her husband money every month and believes their relationship is genuine, insisting that she loves him and is committed to their marriage.

However, her revelation took an unexpected turn after members of the audience burst into laughter, with several suggesting she had fallen victim to a romance scam.

Some audience members argued that what she described was not love but desperation, urging her to be cautious.

The clip has since sparked heated debate on social media, with users divided over whether the relationship is genuine or exploitative.

Some defended the Nigerian man, arguing that the woman was fully aware of his identity and nationality.

“If she knows he is in Nigeria, that means he’s not a scammer. I hope this doesn’t end their relationship,” one user wrote.

Another commented, “God doesn't come down from heaven to carry people's burden. He sends people to help others. As long as the 36-year-old man isn't pretending to be someone else, maybe she is simply helping him.”

Others warned against stereotyping Nigerians, saying not every cross-border relationship involving a Nigerian should automatically be labelled a scam.

“We can't just keep blaming cybercrime on Nigeria. She knows his real name and where he lives,” another user argued.

On the other hand, many social media users remained unconvinced.
