Speaking during a recent podcast, Davido was asked why the collaboration failed to materialise despite a snippet of his verse going viral on social media.
Davido explained that Wande Coal brought the song to him before its release, after which he recorded his verse.
According to him, the snippet of his contribution became popular online after a video featuring it went viral.
Davido said he later understood that Wande Coal intended to release the original song first and subsequently use his contribution as a remix.
He said he rejected the idea because he had not recorded the verse with the intention of featuring on a remix.
Davido added that the disagreement was why the collaboration was ultimately not released, although he believed the song would have been successful.
Wande Coal appeared to take issue with Davido’s account and responded on Instagram with a cryptic message.
“Ode, no respect. E pain you or e no pain you?” he wrote.
The singer later took to X to address the matter more directly, claiming that “Come My Way” already had a release date and was never Davido’s song.
Wande Coal also accused Davido of trying to dictate the release plan and said the song performed well without Davido’s contribution.
The exchange sparked reactions online, with some social media users arguing that Davido had not been disrespectful or entitled in explaining his side of the story.
Davido later appeared to respond with another cryptic post, writing, “No vex Mr Little
, Na small sardine.”
Although he did not mention Wande Coal by name, some fans interpreted the remark as a response to the singer.
Both artistes have since continued to make seemingly indirect remarks on social media, leaving fans speculating about whether the disagreement over the unreleased song could escalate further.
