‘I don’t know anyone by that name’ – Rita Edochie reacts to Judy Austin’s N1bn suit

Actress Rita Edochie has reacted after reportedly being served with a N1 billion defamation lawsuit filed by her in-law, Judy Austin, questioning the name used to address her in the court documents.

Reacting to the development in a post shared on social media, Rita said she was surprised to be addressed as a defendant in a suit involving “Mrs Judy Austin Yul-Edochie.”

According to her, she had received a message from Judy and was still trying to understand the identity behind the name used in the court documents.

Rita wrote: “I received a message from one Mrs Judith Yul Edochie and up till now I am still wondering and utterly confused about who the bearer of that name is because I don't know anyone by that name.”

She further stated that the only person she knows by the name Mrs Yul Edochie is May Edochie, while describing the use of the name in the current situation as provocative.

“As a matter of fact, the only Mrs Yul Edochie that I know is our Queen May Yul Edochie,” she said.

Rita then challenged Judy to provide evidence of the marriage she claims gives her the right to use the name, asking her to present her marriage certificate.

“Since you are insistent on being addressed that way, I would like you to present your marriage certificate highlighting the exact conformation of that weird name ‘Mrs Judith Yul Edochie’ only then will I give further response to this very message,” she wrote.

Rita’s reaction comes amid the latest legal dispute between members of the Yul Edochie family, with the actress making it clear that she intends to challenge the name under which the lawsuit was brought.
