Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has called on United States 
President Donald Trump and the international community to pay close attention to the upcoming Osun State governorship election amid concerns over possible violence, intimidation and disruption of the electoral process.
Davido made the appeal in a statement shared on his social media page, urging relevant authorities to ensure that voters are protected and allowed to exercise their constitutional rights freely and peacefully.
Addressing Trump directly, the singer said, “President Donald Trump, I am calling your attention to the situation in Osun State, Nigeria, as we approach the election.”
He added that there were growing concerns about “tension and the possibility of violence, intimidation, or disruption of the democratic process,” stressing that the people deserved to vote without fear.
Davido further appealed to the United States and the international community to monitor the election closely and encourage authorities to ensure that every voter is protected and respected.
“We do not want bloodshed. We do not want intimidation. We want peace, transparency, and a free and fair election,” he said.
Davido’s intervention comes ahead of the August 15 Osun State governorship election, in which his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, is seeking re-election.
The singer has openly supported Adeleke’s political career and has previously used his public platform to campaign for and defend his uncle. His latest appeal therefore marks another occasion where Davido has publicly weighed in on the political affairs of Osun State.
The election has attracted heightened attention, with Adeleke of the Accord Party facing opponents including APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji and ADC candidate Najeem Salaam.
