Davido made the statement during a livestream hosted by comedian and content creator Carter Efe, where he spoke about his possible future in politics and concerns over Nigeria’s electoral system.
The singer said he would consider going into politics only when the electoral process becomes transparent, insisting that he believes he can win any election conducted freely and fairly.
“Until there’s transparency, then I can go ahead with politics because nobody can beat me in any election. If there’s a free and fair election, let everybody come out to vote, I will win. But because of the system, there’s no transparency; they write the results,” he said.
Speaking about the August 15 Osun governorship election, Davido said he was closely watching developments and waiting to see how the election would be conducted.
“I want to see what they are going to do in Osun. We are waiting,” he said.
The singer then vowed to contact Trump if he believed the election was compromised, saying he would even take his appeal to the White House.
“I’ll tag Trump, I’ll call Trump, everybody. If they still don’t see anything, I’ll go in front of the White House and say, ‘Help us.’ They think it’s a joke,” Davido stated.
He further joked about how he expected Trump to respond to his appeal, saying the US president would acknowledge that a Nigerian artiste was seeking his attention.
Davido ended his remarks with a warning directed at those he believes could interfere with the election process: “Leave Osun alone oo, leave it.”
