At the time she made the decision to return to education, she was already married, a mother of three and working full-time as a laboratory technician in a hospital. Despite her responsibilities, she decided to sit for JAMB again and eventually gained admission to study Medicine at the University of Lagos.
Her journey through medical school was far from easy, as she had to balance her studies with raising three children, including an infant. She eventually proceeded on study leave from work to dedicate herself fully to her medical education.
Being considerably older than most of her classmates, she was affectionately called “Mummy” by some of her younger colleagues. However, she refused to let her age or family responsibilities stand in the way of her ambition.
Her journey was also marked by personal challenges. She had waited five years after marriage before welcoming her first child, while her husband, Abiodun Odukoya, continued to support and encourage her throughout her pursuit of the dream.
After years of hard work, sacrifice and perseverance, she graduated from the University of Lagos College of Medicine in 2022, officially achieving her goal of becoming a medical doctor.
Her story serves as an inspiring reminder that pursuing an educational or career dream does not have to end because of age, marriage, motherhood or other responsibilities.
