Indiana woman allegedly k!lls father, removes his heart in grisly attack

A 32-year-old woman, Serena Desiree Dolnics, has been charged with murder after allegedly stabbing her 69-year-old father, Gregory Dolnics, to death before removing his heart and placing it on his abdomen in a gruesome incident in Valparaiso, Indiana.

According to police, officers responded to the family home on Sunday evening after relatives reported they had been unable to reach Gregory Dolnics. While emergency responders were on the way, a friend of Serena reportedly discovered the horrifying scene and alerted authorities.

Investigators said Gregory Dolnics was found lying on the floor beside blood-spattered furniture with multiple slash wounds to his head, face, neck, and hands. His heart had been removed from his body and placed on his abdomen.

Serena Dolnics was allegedly found inside the home covered in blood, with cuts on her hands, which she reportedly claimed were caused by gardening tools. Police said she denied seeing her father injured and described their relationship as generally good despite occasional disagreements.

An autopsy later confirmed that Gregory Dolnics died from multiple sharp-force injuries, and his death was ruled a homicide. Authorities also recovered three blood-stained knives from the residence.

Serena Dolnics was arrested and charged with murder. She pleaded not guilty during her initial court appearance via video link while wearing a suicide-prevention vest.

When asked if she had secured legal representation, she reportedly replied, "I'll figure it out."

A judge ordered that she be held without bond pending further court proceedings.

Court records indicate Dolnics has previous convictions, including substance abuse in 2024, driving while intoxicated in 2017, and public intoxication in 2016.
