KAI operatives rescue mother, five-month-old baby from canal in Lagos

A body of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, KAI (Kick Against Indiscipline) has rescued a mother and her five months old baby girl from a Canal in the Abule-Ado area of Logos by operatives of the Lagos

The pair were discovered on Wednesday during a routine clearance operation by KAI personnel along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

The agency’s spokesperson, Lukman Ajayi, said the operatives became concerned after discovering the woman and her infant inside the canal.

According to him, the mother was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for how they ended up at the location, only telling the operatives that she was running away from her husband, who lives in FESTAC.

“The mother could not give a satisfactory answer as to why they were there, and she only said she was running from her husband, who lived in FESTAC,” Ajayi said.

He said the condition of the five-month-old baby was particularly worrying when the pair were found.

“The child was not in a good state of health when they were rescued,” he said.

Ajayi explained that the operatives immediately intervened to protect the lives of both mother and child and took them to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

“Today, our operatives rescued a mother and her five-month-old baby girl from a canal at Abule-Ado during routine clearance operations on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway,” he said.

He added that both the mother and child remained at the hospital for necessary medical care following the rescue.
