The three-minute broadcast reportedly went beyond criticism of the US president, claiming that Barron was being monitored and alleging that a $10 million bounty had been offered for his killing.
Secret Service spokesperson Nate Herring confirmed that the agency was aware of the video and said any content that could be perceived as a threat against people under its protection is taken seriously.
“The U.S. Secret Service is aware of the video and investigates anything that can be perceived as a threat toward our protectees,” Herring said.
However, Herring declined to disclose details of any security measures being taken, citing protective intelligence and operational security concerns.
According to Reuters, the Iranian state television broadcast discussed a potential assassination plot against Barron and claimed that his movements were being monitored.
The alleged $10 million bounty has not been independently verified by US authorities and remains a claim made in the Iranian broadcast.
The development comes amid escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran, months after the United States and Israel went to war with Iran in February.
Security threats against members of the Trump family have also become an increasing concern. Reuters reported earlier in August that US officials had received several warnings from Israel about alleged Iranian plans to assassinate President Trump.
One of the warnings was reportedly considered serious enough to prompt an unusual security operation during a trip to Turkey, where Trump was secretly moved using an alternative aircraft arrangement.
Trump has previously acknowledged the threats against him, describing himself as “number one on the kill list for Iran.”
The latest broadcast has raised further concerns by reportedly extending the threats to his youngest son.
