A Kano Magistrate’s Court has remanded Muhammad Najib Rimin Kebe in a correctional facility after he was accused of stealing shoes belonging to worshippers at a mosque within the premises of the Norman’s Land Courts in Kano.
The police arraigned the suspect before Magistrate Dayyabu Jamilu Hamza on charges of trespass and stealing shoes from the mosque.
Following the reading of the charges by Adam Salisu Tarauni, the court ordered that Kebe be remanded in a correctional facility pending further proceedings.
The court subsequently adjourned the case until August 28, 2026.
The defendant was accused of repeatedly visiting the mosque within the court premises and allegedly taking shoes belonging to worshippers.
Some complainants, including court workers, police officers, correctional service personnel and members of the public, reportedly told authorities that they had experienced repeated cases of shoe theft at the mosque.
The latest proceedings will continue on August 28, when the court is expected to hear further arguments in the case.
