Speaking on a recent episode of the Good News Naija podcast, Kuti said Nigeria’s corruption is deeply rooted across its institutions, particularly the judiciary and political system.
According to him, a functional and credible judicial system would have prevented Tinubu from contesting the presidency in the first place if the allegations against him were established.
“Do you think Tinubu is the problem? The judiciary that didn’t stop him from getting there in the first place is a problem. If all the allegations against him are true, how did he contest?” he asked.
Kuti argued that the problem extends beyond the presidency, saying Nigerians across different sectors are being governed by the same class of corrupt elites.
“If we had men and women of calibre and integrity, he wouldn’t have been able to contest in the first place,” he said.
The musician maintained that Nigeria’s institutional corruption is so deeply entrenched that it continues to undermine the hopes and aspirations of young Nigerians.
