Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has clashed with former presidential media aide Bashir Ahmad over the forthcoming Osun State governorship election.
Davido said he was present during the conversation and described the moment as one he had “witnessed history.”
Reacting, Bashir said he had bookmarked the singer’s post and predicted that Davido would return to social media to complain if the August 15 election did not produce the outcome he expected.
“This tweet is bookmarked. It will serve as a reference for future events. I know you will come back here to lament if the August 15 results don’t go your way,” Bashir wrote.
Davido fired back, mocking Bashir over his performance in the APC primary election.
“You got 16 votes, bro, in the primaries. STFU,” the singer responded.
The singer continued his criticism in another post, questioning Bashir’s political achievements and accusing him of failing to make a meaningful impact in his community despite serving in the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
“You measure success by one award. I measure it by sold-out arenas, billions of streams, global influence, and people singing my songs across continents.”
Davido added:
“You had government backing and still couldn’t convince enough people to back you in your small constituency. You’re a small boy who came into politics by accident.”
He further wrote:
“You spent 8yrs with the ex-president and couldn’t make a change in your poverty-stricken community.”
Concluding his response, Davido said both men had different measures of success and insisted that he would continue to focus on inspiring young people through his music and career.
“We all have different trophies, Bashir. I’ll keep inspiring the young ones and generations to come while you wait for the next government job to get crumbs,” Davido wrote.
