After three days of deliberation, the jury returned not-guilty verdicts on all counts, clearing the rapper of allegations that he was involved in a plot to kill fellow rapper Quando Rondo.
Prosecutors had alleged that Lil Durk hired a hit team to target Quando Rondo in retaliation for the 2020 killing of his close friend, Dayvon “King Von” Bennett, at an Atlanta nightclub.
According to the prosecution, the gunmen fired 18 shots at Quando Rondo’s black Escalade outside the Beverly Center in Los Angeles. While the intended target survived the attack, his cousin, Saviay’a Robinson, was struck and killed.
However, Lil Durk’s defence rejected the prosecution’s case, arguing that his former assistant, Kavon Grant, was responsible for ordering the attack and had allegedly done so in an attempt to impress the rapper.
Lil Durk was prosecuted alongside two other defendants in connection with the shooting. The charges against him included conspiracy, stalking involving a dangerous weapon, stalking resulting in death and two counts related to murder-for-hire.
The jury’s verdict means Lil Durk has been found not guilty on all five charges.
